Cody's 10 Most Played Songs on His iPod

While looking at iTunes this morning, I decided to check out which songs Cody is listening to the most. Here they are...

1) Along Comes a Woman/ Chicago
2) Just a Shame/ Phil Collins
3) Joshua Giraffe/ Raffi
4) Shift Work/ Kenny Chesney
5) Mountain Music/ Alabama
6) Steamy Windows/ Tina Turner
7) License to Chill/ Billy Ocean
8) Jumper/ Third Eye Blind
9) Hold the Line/ Toto
10) Mr. Roboto/ Styx

Tina Turner's Steamy Windows? Really Cody?!

Click on this link to see how his list has changed in two years. Notice that Along Comes a Woman is still number one. You can also click here and here to see why Cody may very well be Chicago's biggest fan. :)

My Favorite Commercial on TV Right Now

I just love this commercial so much!

If this guy parked next to Don, he would be extremely pissed...and that's putting it mildly. :)

Bridal Shower for Katelyn's Best Friend

Katelyn threw a bridal shower today for her best friend Kaitlen. (Try not to get confused. They have the same name, different spelling.)

She went with a Love Is Sweet theme and used Kaitlen's wedding colors, navy and coral.

Guests played The Price Is Right game, bidding on the cleaning products in this tote...

They also played a game where they had to match the candy to the clue.

Kaitlen Jensen, the Bride-to-Be

Throughout the party, if you were caught saying the name of the bride or groom, you had to take a turn wearing this little tiara and veil...

Vickie (Kaitlen Jensen's mom)

I slipped up at the very last minute.

The girls played The Bubble Gum Game ...

Katelyn thoroughly enjoyed it when her best friend answered the question wrong
and had to put another piece of bubble gum in her mouth.

By this point, Kaitlen is seriously thinking the questions over before giving her answers. :)

Kaitlen received some nice gifts and I'm quite certain that everyone had a good time, leaving with happy hearts, full stomachs and little candy stick favors...

Protecting People with Disabilities

My son with disabilities came home from his day program yesterday with this on his backside...

This is the top of his left leg, right under his buttocks.

He was taken to a park and put in a swing for about 15 minutes (so I've been told) in 100 degree weather.

Reports are being filed, action is being taken and changes will be made.

I'm posting this in hope that mothers, fathers, nannies and caregivers will see how dangerous it can be to take children to a playground when temperatures are soaring.

Sometimes being Cody's mom sucks everything out of me. Taking care of someone with disabilities is hard enough without having to deal with this kind of shit crap.

Homemade Apricot Jam

My son Casey has fruit and nut trees in his yard and yesterday he brought over apricots for me to make jam.

The apricots were perfect, soft enough for eating and not too ripe.

For the most part, I followed this recipe from

Apricot Jam

8 cups sliced apricots, pitted and skin left on
1/4 cup lemon juice
6 cups sugar

Sterilize 10 half-pint canning jars by boiling for 10 minutes in hot water canner.

Combine apricots, lemon juice and sugar in a large stock pot.

Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved.

Once mixture reaches a rolling boil, continue boiling for 30-50 minutes, mashing occasionally with a potato masher and stirring frequently to prevent it from sticking. (Trust me. You don't want scorched fruit floating around.)

During this process, why not reward yourself with your favorite treat? I did!

Remove from heat and ladle quickly into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space.

Wipe rims with clean damp cloth and place canning lids (prepared according to box directions) on rims.

Secure with rings and process in boiling water for 15 minutes.

Remove carefully and let stand at room temperature for 24 hours.

Sooo Pretty.
