Highlights of the Year 2021

The year 2021 has been an eventful one for our family!

After having six adorable grandsons, I finally got my first grand-daughter.

(Respecting my daughter's wishes to not show her children's faces.
Scumbags on the internet ruin everything.)

My oldest son, Cody, turned 40! We celebrated with an open house.
Cody loved having his friends from  Turn Community Services there.

Katelyn, who happens to be my youngest child, turned 30! What?! How?!!

Boyd and I went to Fort Worth, Texas to see my BF from high school and her family.

My sister, Camie, and her daughter, Lainey, came and
spent a few days with me. We braved Vegas for a day.

Beverly and I went on our first girl trip without our daughters. We had a great time, even though we had to wear masks on the rides. (And we really wished the girls could've come.)

On a sad note, my step-father passed away. I am glad he's no longer suffering.

CANCER CAN SUCK IT!

Boyd and I made the decision to cash in on the insane housing market in St. George and move out of town. We bought the cutest home in the perfect location and moved in the first Saturday of September.

Within a month, I landed a job as an EL Interventionist at the elementary school close to my home.

(Ignore the typo in my text.)

Cody is adjusting to his new day program. He really wanted to be Goofy on Halloween.

We've enjoyed a couple of snow storms (which rarely happened in St. George).

We hosted our first Thanksgiving in our new home and just ended the year with a very Merry Christmas.

Looking back, I feel blessed beyond measure!

Bring on 2022!

To you and yours...

Katelyn and Matthew's Fairy Tale Moment

"Are you serious?!"

It's affirmative. :)

High Five!!!

Goofy is one sentimental dude.

Telling the Fairy Godmother all about it.

Overcome with Joy!

This is what bliss looks like. :)

11 Things I Could Live Without, but Wouldn't Want To

1) Ketchup- Eating foods such as fries and hamburgers wouldn't be near as enjoyable without this flavorsome condiment.

2) Coke- I suppose I could drink that copycat soda that starts with a P, but I prefer the real thing.

3) Pizza Cutter- I love this little gizmo! Click here to find out what magnificent things this gadget can do.

4) Body Pillow- My knees rub together and hips ache in the morning if I can't curl my legs around this at night.

5) Blow Dryer- Mine quit on me last week and I went two days without. Not pretty.

6) Remote Controls- I am old enough to remember getting up and switching the dial on the TV. I like lazy better.

7) Ice Cream- Living without ice cream would be extremely sad. I scream, you scream...

8) Mascara- In my opinion, every woman would look better wearing a little mascara.

9) Vacations to Disneyland- The Happiest Place on Earth needs me and I need The Happiest Place on Earth.

10) Refrigerator Ice Maker. Remember filling those little ice cube trays and spilling water all over the floor as you tried to put them in the freezer? And there was always someone who filled them too full or not full enough.

11) Television- I know it's hard to believe, but there are people who actually want to live without television in their home. If I didn't have a TV, I suppose I would read a lot more, play more board games and maybe even do jigsaw puzzles. I just can't imagine never laughing my butt off watching "The Office" again or nagging my husband to do projects around the house because I was inspired by "HGTV".

There you have it. 11 things I could live without, but I'm sooo glad I don't have to.

Chase Your Wildest Dreams? No Thank You.

I had a dream a couple of nights ago that I can't seem to get out of my mind. My kids were all around elementary school age and Don and I were taking them on a family vacation...by way of dune buggy! Yep, we were all going to load up in this...

and head to Oregon, by way of Disneyland!

Like most dreams that turn into nightmares, we encountered a couple of problems. I couldn't seem to get the laundry caught up so we could finish packing...

and, the more I thought about it, the more concerned I became about having enough money to do both Disneyland and Oregon, so I was consulting with Don about maybe just skipping The Happiest Place on Earth and heading straight to the pacific northwest.

Can you imagine driving rainy, Oregon roads in a dune buggy with four kids?

I woke up before the decision was made, but either way I would have been miserable.

Boy am I pleased it was just a dream!

How South Park and Disney's Toon Town Are Similar...

If there is a single ride at Disneyland that you want to avoid, it is Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin in Toon Town! There are no Fast Passes for this ride and the line is deceiving. Once you're inside the building, the line winds and winds around walls that you cannot see beyond. Just when you think you're closer to actually getting on the ride, you come to another bend.

We waited in line for 80 minutes (Katelyn's bright idea). It was ridiculous.

Chase told me about the following episode of South Park and, believe me, our experience in Toon Town wasn't far from it. Check it out. (I think Katelyn is Cartman in this episode. Sorry Katelyn. Watch it and you'll understand. Haha)...

My 4 Day Disney Park Hopper Diet

Crap Food I Actually Purchased in the Parks...

Corn Dog with Apple Slices

Caramel Apple

Mickey Pecan Cluster

Nachos (twice)

Fish and Chips

Hot Fudge Sundae

And if the aforementioned isn't enough junk for your eyes to behold, check out the snacks I stashed in my backpack for in-between meals...

Bottle Caps

Licorice

Cheese Crackers

Slim Jims

Granola Bars

Here is my theory. The joy of vacationing at amusement parks isn't only in the thrill of the rides, but temporarily abusing my body with foods I normally wouldn't indulge in.

I had such a great time.
